Meet our Photographers!

“A good photographer must love life more than he loves photography.”

Bonnie Madre, CPP

Bonnie is an award-winning photographer, based in Poquoson, Virginia, in the beautiful Hampton Roads area. Her love of photography started in the film days, more than 50 years ago with a completely manual 35 mm camera. Over the years, her diverse photography experience has included horse shows, track meets, rock climbers, skiers, and developing and printing electron and optical micrographs at the metals research lab in Pennsylvania where she was employed.

Bonnie's "people" specialties are storytelling portraits, headshots (professional, personal and audition), event and family photography. She also has a long history of landscape and nature photography.

In 2013, Bonnie retired from Jefferson Lab in Newport News, and in 2019, she joined the Virginia Professional Photographers Association (VPPA). In 2020, she joined the Professional Photographers of America (PPA) and became a Certified Professional Photographer (CPP). That same year, she rediscovered photographic competition, and has been having success on the local, district and international level. Bonnie continues to attend classes and workshops and is currently working towards PPA's Photographic Master degree.

She has participated in group and solo exhibits at local galleries. Bonnie is pleased to be working with friend and mentor, Skip Barber.
